MFA - Set Up MFA For Your Microsoft Account on a New Phone with the Microsoft Authenticator App

This document is meant for all employees and provides the procedure to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on a new cell phone.
Procedure

Download the Microsoft Authenticator App on your new phone. See the icon below to ensure you're getting the correct app.
- Visit the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone) and search "Microsoft Authenticator"
- This app is FREE. Do not be tricked into paying for an impostor

Access SharePoint (or any other Microsoft online app) in a browser and sign in
- Once signed in, your profile picture or initials will appear in the upper-right corner of the window
- Click your picture/initials, then "View account" below

On the window that appears, click on "Update Info" within the Security Info section

On the Security Info screen, click "+ Add sign-in method"

On the Sign-in method pop-up, choose Microsoft Authenticator

- Another pop-up will appear instructing you to download the app. Click "Next" (twice) until you see a QR code

ON YOUR PHONE, open the Microsoft Authenticator App and click the "+" symbol in the top right of the screen
- Choose Work or School Account
- At the bottom of the screen, click "Scan QR Code"
- Aim the phone camera at the QR code on your computer screen
- Your account info will be added to the Microsoft Authenticator app (at the bottom if the app has other products already)

Click "Next" under the QR code (on your computer)
- (QR Code removed for security)

You will receive a 2-digit code on the computer screen that needs to be entered into the Microsoft Authenticator App
- Enter the code on the app and follow any further instructions provided
- Once entered, Multi-Factor Authentication will be enabled on your cell phone
